I have found that with chronic pain doctors are very much in favor of drug therapies before they attempt surgery. For me, this puts me through an ongoing-and-ever-shortening cycle of hope and disappointment. At first I have hope the drugs will help but in the end the effects are not what had been described, or the side effects are detrimental to sane living, or both. This is reflected in my art that shows dying plants with petals and seeds blanketing the ground and in the birdhouse turned IV pole that symbolizes all the surgery that seems to follow failed non-invasive attempts.
